3. Clason Point Park
Clason Point Park is an oasis at the tip of a small peninsula in The Bronx. Offering spectacular views of Whitestone Bridge, College Point, and Manhattan, as well as picnic tables and benches – Clason Point Park also hosts the Soundview (SV) route of the NYC Ferry service.
Pugsley Creek Park is a neighborhood greenway centered around a historic creek that once fed Westchester Creek and now forms Pugsley Creek. Connected by trail, Pugsley Creek Park was famous as an early 20th-century location for seaside resorts, dancehalls, amusement parks, and amusement rides served by ferry from Queens; one such saloon was Kane’s where Helen Kane sang the iconic Betty Boop song of her youth at Kane’s Saloon – an act which would later inspire cartoon flapper characters such as Betty Boop.
Today, this neighborhood features low-income housing. Its streets are narrow and often flood during heavy rainfall.
