62

Host Kiran Deol continues her quest to find how faith and meals mix for the divine in Soul Meals. On this episode, Kiran, who was raised Sikh, steps barely out of her consolation zone and finds herself surrounded by Hindus, Hare Krishnas, and mountains of blessed selfmade vegetarian Indian meals at two concurrent Krishna celebrations in Los Angeles.

First off, she visits the Shri Nand Shiv Durga Mandir Hindu temple in Montebello, CA, celebrating Govardhan Puja, a food-centric pageant feast consisting of 56 dishes in honor of the god Krishna. Subsequent, she’s off to a different pageant on the Hare Krishna Cultural Heart in Culver Metropolis that includes a literal hill of meals. Kiran learns that Krishna’s spit actually packs on the kilos, however who’s counting when the meals is so scrumptious?
