Prof. Clooney on his Catholicism in Dialogue lecture:

“The knowledge of the Ignatian custom is fantastically enshrined within the perception of St. Ignatius Loyola that we search God in all issues and see God all over the place. In that means we learn to serve God and our neighbor all over the place and always. From St. Ignatius on, mystics and poets and students, impressed by this very best, have lived out the Ignatian very best in service to others. Gerard Manley Hopkins expressed the perfect most easily: “Christ performs in ten thousand locations, Beautiful in limbs, and beautiful in eyes not his To the Father by the options of males’s faces.” Teilhard de Chardin spoke for many people when he stated that he “sought to show the way to see God all over the place, to see Him in all that’s most hidden, most stable and most final on this planet.” In our instances, the hunt to see God in all issues might be naturally prolonged to seeing God within the spiritual traditions round us. As Vatican II says, we are able to revere and welcome these different methods of conduct and of life, even when completely different from our personal, that “on no account hardly ever replicate the radiance of that Reality enlightening all individuals.” But we are able to do much more: in a local weather of true interreligious change, we are able to additionally study from how saints and mystics in different traditions see God in all issues, and may see us in mild of their expertise of God all over the place. In at this time’s world, God is providing us the grace to be seen by others in mild of their imaginative and prescient of God on this planet. On this lecture, I give the instance of a Hindu custom of south India, whereby the devotee is invited to see the divine — Krishna, Rama, Sita — all over the place and in all issues. At a Jesuit college, we’ve got nothing to worry once we discover ourselves within the mild of different faiths, different individuals’s imaginative and prescient of the world in God.”
